China SIF Successfully Hosts Webinar on Sustainable Finance in the UK - Regulations for Investors

On May 29th, China SIF successfully held a webinar featuring James Alexander, Chief Executive of UK SIF and Chair of the Global Sustainable Investment Alliance (GSIA). This webinar is part of the webinar series “SIF Meets SIF”, initiated by China SIF. The session offered an in-depth look at the UK’s sustainable finance landscape, with a particular focus on evolving regulations, anti-greenwashing efforts, and the role of financial services in supporting sustainable growth.
James Alexander shared lnsights into the UK’s latest regulatory initiatives, including the introduction of sustainability labels for investment funds and enhanced disclosure requirements. He highlighted the importance of clear transition plans and regulatory clarity in supporting investor confidence and market integrity.
The discussion also touched on the UK government’s strategies to align economic development with sustainability goals, alongside the practical challenges of mobilizing private capital due to permitting delays, infrastructure constraints, and evolving policy environments.
The webinar concluded with a broader dialogue on global sustainable finance trends and the significance of cross-border collaboration. Dr. Guo Peiyuan, Chairman of China SIF and Chairman of SynTao Green Finance, moderated the session.
