Engagement and stewardship are common ESG investment approaches to reduce risk and achieve asset enhancement by pushing portfolio companies to improve their ESG practices. Mature markets are already experienced in this area. Many regions have already issued relevant guidelines such as the "Stewardship Code", and most leading asset managers are adopting this investment approach. In the domestic market, engagement and stewardship have only recently emerged, and only a few large asset managers have adopted the relevant practices. The "Green Finance Guidelines for Banking and Insurance Sectors" and the "ESG Stewardship Initiative for Insurance Asset Management Sector of China" released in 2022 will facilitate the development of stewardship.

During the 2023 China SIF Summer Summit, we will explore engagement and stewardship topics, inviting investors and portfolio companies to discuss how to promote dialogue and mutual action on key ESG issues. We will also discuss the specific application of stewardship in promoting the low-carbon transition of companies, information disclosure and other topics.

At the Summer Summit, the China Climate Engagement Initiative (CCEI) will be officially launched, aiming to integrate professional experience and bring together institutional investors to further promote the green, low-carbon and high-quality transition of Chinese enterprises.
